Amazing pictures of Kilaueas current Halemaumau eruption,Peles magnificence and power -
Some facts today-
---Lava is erupting from vents in Halemaʻumaʻu crater
--The lava lake in the crater was rising approximately 1 meter (yd) per hour Thursday
--SO2 emission rates: Approximately 85,000 tonnes/day
--Seismicity elevated
---Hazards are vog & light dusting of ash downwind
The most energetic lava geysers were emerging from multiple vents and have send molten lava within the crater up to the height of a five story building. The maximum height to which molten lava was propelled occurred Wednesday reaching heights of 82 to 98 feet.
Significantly, all the action is occurring within the crater in Hawaii Volcano National Park---and therefore not impacting the surrounding areas in which there are homes and residents.
